Fall Work Day will be held from 9 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, October 21. Each work day consists of a number of tasks to be done, some inside and some outside. You do not have to be a highly skilled contractor type person; anyone willing and able to lend a hand is qualified. Please give it some thought. Any amount of time that you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
It’s time to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Pick up a brochure outside the church office and fill a shoebox as directed. Return the shoebox to the table outside church office no later than Sunday, November 12th. Visit www.samaritanspurse.org for inspiration and practical information. Please remember that each box is to include a $7 check made payable to Samaritan’s Purse to defray shipping costs as well as the printing of the Gospel message in each child’s language.
Christmas time is rapidly approaching, and Berea will be adopting families within and outside the church again this year. While the deacons will be identifying appropriate families to adopt within the church, your help is requested in identifying candidate families outside of the church. The candidates should be families (at least one child and one parent) who are financially struggling with meeting basic daily needs.
Your submission of a nominee implies that if your nominated family is selected, you are willing to help the deacons coordinate basic information about the family so that the entire congregation can then participate in anonymously procuring appropriate items. Please make your submission by using the forms located in the bins outside the church office by November 12th.
Due to the sensitivity of such activity, the deacons will keep all nominations confidential and ask that you do the same.
January 13, 2018, we will hold our Annual Congregational Meeting where we will have elections for the offices of Ruling Elder and Deacon. Toward this end, the Session will be receiving recommendations from the congregation through November 2017. Anyone who is currently a member of Berea may recommend a candidate using a form located outside of the church office by December 1.
For information regarding qualifications, please check the church bulletin board.
